AC19 installation error

I've installed AC19 on three of our computers. At the completion of each installation, AC19 has come up with the following error message:

'During installation one or more files could not be accessed'

It does not seem to affect the operation of AC19 (for the brief moments I've tried it) but it must mean something. Anybody else out there get this message?

If you ask me i would say archicad 19 is performance update and you can live with AC18 without any problems...If you have modeling problems in AC18 you will have them in AC19 too, so don't worry, workflow is the same !
Other architects who works in AC19 will not be able to do anything you can't do in AC18.

Get yourself AC18 and SSD...especially because AC18 is more polished then AC19 (bugs)

Thanks for notifying us. We are investigating this issue.
Until then, we recommend to download the Media Feature Pack for the N and KN versions of Windows 10 prior installing ARCHICAD, as Guibuu mentioned in a previous post.

Installed Update 6000, but need 5100

So I just started using Archicad today and made the mistake of instantly updating to version 6000, while the BIM-server where I work still runs on 5100.
Is it possible to downgrade back to 5100? I already tried downloading the 5100 update. But when trying to install it, it says that the system already uses a higher version and does not allow me to continue the installation.

My last resort would be reinstalling the whole program, but I hope there would be a less time-consuming solution to my problem.

Unfortunately you can't uninstall a hotfix.
So it is either reinstall Archicad or update the BIM server and all other users.

Barry.

Thanks for the quick responds.
The BIM server has to be updated by a third party group, because they control the server. So it seems that the only option I personally can do, would be to reinstall the program.

Hi KeesW,
this message usually pertains to a scenario where there is a problem with perissions. Are you running the installer as an admin? If not, please try to run it with administrator privileges! Thanks, k

Windows 10 compatibility with AC16 and above

I've just set up a brand new workstation with windows 10 and am running both V18 and V17. The biggest problem I had was getting the Wibu key to work till I discovered that there was a new driver on WIBU's website to suit windows 10 then everything went sweet.

I have a small frustration that the info box has a small delay in scrolling across after I select a new type of element but this is something I have had before in windows 7 so I don't know if its W10 related. I'm looking forward to trying out V19 soon.

Windows 10 is an excellent OS - it is what windows 8 should have been (I stuck with W7 until now).

Your mileage may vary but so far I'm good with Windows 10 but I have my old workstation over in a corner of my office to fall back on just in case:)

Thank you Katelin. I've run them all in the normal fashion and since I am the owner of the computers, I assumed that I had administer's rights. What files are likely to be missing and will it make a difference?

If your permissions are in order, please try to download the installer file again. It might have gotten damaged. Tx

I also encountered similar problem on one machine, but the message is :
ArchiCAD 19 installer has detected that your operating system is not supported
System is ofcourse more than capable, and there is AC18 running just fine. I have also upgraded my win8.1 to win10, hoping that it would make a difference, but no such luck. Anybody have any suggestions?

Hi, please check this article, although this is for AC18, there are some similar troubleshooting issues.
http://helpcenter.graphisoft.com/?p=41383
Also, see if under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version the number is above 6.3. For win 8.1 the number was 6.3 and it has to be above that number! Tx

Judging by the specifications of your computer you are obviously a gear freak! many years ago we had speed tests where users could test and compare their Archicad's performance against a common set of criteria. i had, for a brief period, the fastest computer that was tested. We should have something similar now. Not that it really matters - I suspect that your computer is far more powerful than you ever need but there was a slight glow of satisfaction in having the fastest.

Any suggestions out there?

Actually my profile was showing my 3 1/2 year old computer that I just retired:) I've updated the profile to my new system though its not so different except that I now have faster overclocked CPU and MUCH better, larger and faster SSD's and better quality smaller case. If you want good SSD's now the way to go is the samsung pro line. Yes I like good gear and the system is maybe more than is required for archicad but I work with large photographic files as well in my hobby. I went for a system from IC3D which is aligned to the Graphisoft distributor here in Australia who make systems designed to run Archicad and other CAD software.

Thanks Arcadia.

Wouldn't be interesting to again have a project sample that can be use to test, and compare, really fast Archicad computers? When ours was the fastest, it was twice as fast as the much touted Mac Pro. The new Mac Pro is 12 core and humongously expensive. I wonder how it goes.......?

I have been using Archicad in Windows for 5 years. I just switched to Mac. I am surprised and annoyed that the Navigataor, Toolbars, Infobox, Toolbox, Palettes, and the windows themselves do not "dock" to each other. They are just floating around the screen. Surely I am missing something?
